I received a call from this number. I knew almost immediately is was a scam. I questioned the "IRS Agent" about specific tax codes (state/fed), he seemed to get a bit agitated and insisted I select a payment method or prison. I informed him that I am well aware of business process protocol and federal tax guidelines both personal and business (I'm a CEO). Protect yourselves, especially older relatives. If you get a call from a government imposter, file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint. Be sure to include:
Marked as Dangerous by Sonya Caraway on June 12, 2017
date and time of the call
name of the government agency the imposter used
what they tell you, including the amount of money and the payment method they ask for
phone number of the caller; although scammers may use technology to create a fake number or spoof a real one, law enforcement agents may be able to track that number to identify the caller
any other details from the call.
I must admit I also contacted them repeatedly and advised of the U.S. penalty for fraud via impersonation of a federal agent or officer. It terrified the person on the other end. I have no time for nonsense. Protect yourselves. SC
